Due to unforeseen circumstances, John Leahy will be unable to join our event on February. Another distinguished industry veteran, former Airbus CEO and Chairman for the Americas Barry Eccleston, has kindly agreed to be our featured speaker and we are pleased to host him at our February luncheon.

Barry retired as CEO of Airbus Americas Inc on 28 February 2018, after 12+ years in that role, and almost 49 years in the Aerospace industry.

At Airbus Americas, Barry was responsible for all aspects of Airbus’s business in North America, including Sales and Marketing, Engineering, Manufacturing Operations, Service, Logistics, Training and all Shared Services. During his tenure Airbus’s market share of sales in the region grew from around 20% to over 70% in 2017.

Prior to Airbus Barry was VP and General Manager for Honeywell’s Propulsion Systems Enterprise, and had served as Honeywell’s VP of Commercial Aerospace for Europe, Middle East and Africa. Before Honeywell, he worked for Fairchild Dornier Corporation, Rolls-Royce and International Aero Engines.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Loughborough University (UK) and completed the International Executive Program at the Institute of Management Development, Switzerland. He holds Honorary Doctorates from Loughborough University (his Alma Mater) and from Vaughn College in New York.

Barry is a private pilot. He has served as Chairman of the Washington, D.C. branch of the RAeS, past President of The Wings Club of New York, and was a member of the Aero Club of Washington Board, the Flight Safety Foundation Board, and the NBAA’s Associate Member Advisory Council. He retired as Chairman of the British-American Business Association in Washington DC in 2018.

In the Queen’s New Year’s Honours List January 2019, Barry was awarded an OBE for services to the UK Aviation and Aerospace Industry.

Note: Registration will open at 11:30 AM. Lunch will be served at 12:00 pm. Space is limited. Advance registrations are strongly encouraged. Please let us know if you have special dietary needs.
